4th of July Dress and T-Shirt for Kids

I made a dress for my granddaughter and appliqued a t-shirt with a "firecracker" for my grandson so they can celebrate the 4th in style! My sewing machine is going to the shop this week, I had to coax these two projects out of it, so the stitching is quite quirky, to say the least. I posted the back of the dress first, I love the big white buttons!

And the front of the dress, the color is a bit off in the picture:

My grandson's name is Tyler, hence the "T" on his t-shirt (so many t's-tee-hee!)

QR Code!

Since I am not one to miss out on something new that "everyone else has", I have decided that it is time for my very own QR Code! I have created my Code and hope that some of you have arrived by clicking on my Code from other places. Hurray!

Transfer Paper Newbie!

So I decided it was time to make my grandson his first Super Hero Cape.  I used an old t shirt (recycle! reuse!) and cut the back out, leaving the neck band so he could slip it over his head.  I saw this idea on another blog, but can't remember the name to give credit where credit is due, so my apologies to the owner of this idea!  I found an image of a garbage truck ( he LOVES the garbage truck) and printed out the image on transfer paper.  So far, so good.  Got the image ironed on just like the directions said, waited til it cooled, peeled off the backing on the transfer paper, and this is what I got:

OOPS, didn't think about the fact that the ENTIRE SHEET would transfer!  So back to the drawing board.  Found another t shirt, printed the image and cut around it this time.  Success!

Not quite as cute as the bright blue, but still pretty cool.  I hope he enjoys being a Super Hero in his new cape!
